Wister person dies in auto accident

An 18-year-old Wister person died in an auto accident Friday at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Highway 270, approximately two and a half miles southeast of Wister.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Ayden G. Brown, was a passenger in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Jake Morrison, 19, of Heavener.

The report said the truck was going westbound when it departed the road to the right, overcorrected and departed to the left, overturning an unknown number of times before coming to rest in an upright position.

Morrison was pinned in the vehicle and later freed by members of the Wister Fire Department using the HURST tool. He was transported by LeFlore County EMS to a Fort Smith hospital with head injuries.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seatbelts were not in use. The front airbag did deploy. The accident was investigated by Trooper Wes Odom, assisted by LeFlore County EMS and the Wister Fire Department.
