Amarillo man dies in motorcycle collision

A 51-year-old Amarillo, Texas man dies in a motorcycle collision Tuesday on Highway 1, three miles north of Big Cedar.

Brian Rhodes of Amarillo was driving a 2016 BMW motorcycle east on highway when a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 26-year-old, Dirk Ross, of Broken Bow, went left of center, striking the motorcycle driven by Rhodes.

Rhodes was transported to Baptist Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with trunk internal injuries, where he was pronounced deceased with trunk internal injuries.

Ross was transported by AirEvac to UAMA in Little Rock, Arkansas in critical condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

Both drivers appeared in normal condition, although the accident is under investigation. Both drivers were wearing helmets on the two-lane, divided asphalt.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Cody Jackson, assisted by Trooper Blake Palmer, the Big Cedar Fire Department, LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department and LeFlore County EMS.
