Arkoma boys edge Whitesboro for split
Carl Brake blocked a last-second shot from Whitesboro to preserve Arkoma’s 34-33 win Monday.
Whitesboro’s girls were dominant in the opener, winning 70-20 as the teams prepared for district play later in the week.
Girls
Whitesboro jumped ahead 23-2 at the end of the first quarter and was never threatened by the Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Bulldogs held a 39-11 advantage at halftime and increased the advantage to 59-18 at the end of the third quarter.
Kaitlyn Glasgow scored six points and grabbed five rebounds for Arkoma.
Boys
Arkoma built an 18-11 lead at the half before Whitesboro rallied to tie the score at 21 after three quarters, setting the stage for the win.
Deuce Walton had 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals to pace the Mustangs. In addition to the block to preserve the victory, Brake had 11 rebounds and five steals.
