Funeral service for Elizabeth Hooper

Funeral service for Elizabeth Hooper, 93 of Poteau is 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with Donald Cherry and Steve Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

She was born Sept. 16, 1929 in Poteau to Shirley Maybelle (Foote) Cheely and James Scott Cheely and passed away Jan. 23, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  

Survivors include her son, Joseph Hooper; three sisters Arminta Johnson, Carolyn Turney and Suzan Saneman; grandchildren Michael Parker, Jenna Hooper, Kandis Hooper, Cassie Oostra, Joshua Hooper, Bella and Greyson Hooper; and great grandchildren Cole Brown, Jaden Hooper, Peyton Khote and William Oostra.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother, Walter Joe Cheely; and younger sister, Charlene Jane Stanley; and her oldest son, Fredrick (Rick) Hooper.

Visitation is Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.  at Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
