Jury convicts Wister man of murder

Jury convicts Wister man of murder as the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced Friday Kendall Lee Forrester, 35, of Wister was found guilty by a federal jury of one count of First Degree Murder in Indian Country, one count of Use, Carry, Brandish and Discharge of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence, and one count of Causing the Death of a Person in the Course of a Violation of Title 18 United States Code Section 924(c).

The jury trial began with testimony Feb. 24, 2025, and concluded Feb. 27, 2025, with the guilty verdicts.

During the trial, the United States presented evidence that on the morning of Oct. 31, 2023, Forrester shot and killed the victim with a single gunshot wound to the head.  On Nov. 1, 2023, the victim’s body and a set of bloody towels were discovered wrapped in plastic sheeting inside a hope chest in the back of the victim’s vehicle.  At trial, the United States presented evidence from the officers who conducted a traffic stop on Forrester that while inventorying Forrester’s vehicle they discovered a 9mm handgun, one 9mm magazine loaded with 9 rounds ammunition, and a trash bag of freshly washed clothes and towels.
