Obituary for Harvey Waddles

Harvey Hugh Waddles, 75, of Poteau was born January 10, 1947 in Heavener to Thomas Birchie Waddles and Sarah Adeline (Evans) King and passed away May 29, 2022 in Talihina.    

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with his son-in-law, Mark Shuffield, officiating. Burial will follow in the Howe Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Military honors will be provided by the Poteau Disabled American Veterans #63 and will be escorted by Patriot Riders.

Harvey was a lifelong resident of the area, a logger, and a carpenter. He loved anything to do with horses, hunting, fishing and hanging out with his family and friends, especially his dogs, Junior and Brim. He was a veteran where he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Jean Waddles, of the home; three daughters Kerry Waddles Shuffield and husband Mark of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Rhonda Gail Waddles of Arkansas, Regina Henslee and husband Lance of Malvern, Arkansas and Susan Huett; two sons T.J. Huett of Monroe, and Steven Huett and wife Jodi; four sisters Ruth Ross of Howe, Louise Mattox of Poteau, Peggy Hill and husband Finos of Benton, Arkansas and Mary Evers of Howe; one brother, Bruce Waddle; 15 grandchildren Joshua A. Waddles, Taylor Henslee Fuller and husband Colin, Trevor and Tyler Shuffield, Justin and Joshua H. Waddles, Cassidy Murphy and husband Garrett, Shaylan, McKinzie, and Tyler Duncan, Brynlee Huett, Logan, Ryan, Kycen, and Kimbri Huett; two great-grandchildren Henslee Fuller and Easton Murphy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Birchie Waddles and Sarah Adeline (Evans) King; one son, Joseph D. Waddles; his step-father, Junior Thomas King; one sister, Judy Graham; and two brothers Thomas Waddle and Charles Nash.

Pallbearers are T.J. Huett, Steven Huett, Trevor Shuffield, Tyler Shuffield, Jay Waddle and Lance Henslee. Honorary pallbearers are Scotty J. Woodral, Rick Harris, Richard Cooper, Monty Woodral, Scotty D. Woodral, Joshua A. Waddles and Terry S. Harris.

Viewing is noon to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until service time Thursday.

The family will have visitation with friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
