Obituary for Nancy Hamilton

Nancy Hamilton, 86, of Tahlequah (formerly of Heavener) was born May 19, 1937 in Okmulgee to Theodore “Ted” and Bernice (Smith) Livesay and passed away surrounded by her family Sept. 21, 2023 in Tahlequah.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with Reverend Shana Dry officiating. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Nancy was raised in Heavener and graduated from Heavener High School in 1955. Nancy and Jim married June 1, 1957. She continued her education and graduated from Northeastern State University in 1987. Nancy was an exceptional wife, mother, and homemaker.  She was known to always be involved with her kid’s extracurricular activities. Nancy actually started the first baseball PeeWee League in Heavener. She stayed involved with her church, the Heavener United Methodist Church. She was very involved with the youth choir and puppet ministry. Nancy was a supportive wife to Jim during his legislative years. Her home was kept immaculate and ready at any moment for a visit from her kids and grandchildren, who affectionately called her “MeMaw”. She will be greatly missed with only fond, loving memories.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Melissa Todd and husband Mike of Tahlequah; one son and daughter-in-law Dr. Lance Hamilton and wife Darla of Centerton, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law Tim Livesay and wife Carla of Tahlequah; eight grandchildren

Kelly Henderson, Ryne Frank, Jacob Todd, Josh Todd, Jayme Todd, Jillian Todd, Nicole Skinner and Jillian Ollie; 13 great-grandchildren; two nephews; numerous other relatives and a host of many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Bernice Livesay; her husband of 61 years, Jim Hamilton; one brother, Tedd Ray Livesay; her grandparents Richard and Maggie Livesay, John and Deanna Smith; and one granddaughter, Elaine Hamilton.

Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Viewing is from noon until 5 p.m., Monday and 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
