Obituary for Nancy Patrick

Nancy Lou Patrick of Phoenix, Arizona, recently of Wister, was born Nov. 20, 1932 and grew up with her parents Freida Lou and Stephen L. Griffin in Chillicothe, Missouri.

She passed away Sept. 6, 2023 in Pocola at the age of 90. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family as well as a kind and loyal friend to everyone.

Memorial service is 4 p.m. Friday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with Brock Hardin officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Nancy loved her family and she would proudly boast about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to anyone and everyone she met. Nancy never missed a family birthday, anniversary, baptism, wedding, graduation, or special occasion, even if it wasn’t in person, there was always a card. This dedication and devotion extended to all her friends and even down to her beloved dogs. Nancy would even sing the praises of her favorite hairdressers – “Tom” and “Verna”. Nancy was just as hard and dedicated worker in her 25 years as an aide and secretary for the Washington School District in Phoenix. Nancy’s love extended after retirement as a member of her weekly bible study “Soul Sisters”.

But the person who hung the moon and stars for Nancy was the love of her life, John Patrick. John married Nancy Lou Griffin Nov. 15, 1952 and they were married 66 years before John passed in February of 2019. Their devotion and love was unparalleled. You rarely saw Nancy without John by her side or John without Nancy. They are now forever together and each other’s loving arms.

Nancy is survived by one daughter LouAnn Patrick Stanley and husband Jim of Wister; two sons Bryan Patrick and wife Sue of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Brad Patrick and wife Lisa of Carefree, Arizona; seven grandchildren Bryanna Blanco and husband Aaron, Shaun Patrick, Travis Jennings and wife Betsy, Aaron Patrick and wife Christie, Sydney Rodriquez and husband Gavin, Bryce Thompson and husband Jacob, and Angela Patrick; 13 great-grandchildren Trevor, Niko, Aiden, Bryghton, Zain, Sevi, Fintan, Brynnleigh, Ezekiel, Xander, Kennedy, Avelina, Camden and baby boy Thompson, due in October; plus numerous close friends and extended family

In addition to her beloved husband, John Patrick; Nancy was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Jennings.

In lieu of flowers, Nancy’s memory would be honored by donations in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family wishes to thank the outstanding staff of Pocola Health and Rehab for the excellent care, attention, and love given to Nancy for the last 4 ½ years.
