Senate review 11-22-2023

By Sen. GEORGE BURNS

As we approach the season of gratitude and reflection, Thanksgiving stands as a cornerstone of American culture, inviting us to pause, appreciate, and give thanks for the blessings that enrich our lives. It is more than just a day on the calendar, it is a timeless tradition rooted in our national identity. Transcending the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this holiday provides a dedicated moment to gather with loved ones, break bread, and acknowledge the abundance that surrounds us.

As I reflect on the blessings in life, my faith, family, and freedom are the things I am most thankful for.  Faith, provides solace, wisdom, and a moral compass that shapes my decisions as a legislator. The unwavering support, love, and shared moments of joy with my family create a foundation of strength that sustains me. Freedom, the idea that all men were created equal with unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is a daily driver propelling me forward to represent each of you.

These values which we celebrate in this season of Thanksgiving are the pillars of the America we hold dear. It is for these reasons that I am both honored and humbled to represent you and to be your voice in the legislature. I am thankful for each of you, for the dialogues, the stories shared, and the collaborative efforts aimed at creating positive change for our district and beyond. I am especially thankful for your trust and confidence that empowers me to advocate for the betterment of our community and the state we call home.

As we gather around the Thanksgiving table, let us not only savor the flavors of the season but also relish the warmth of companionship. In a world often filled with challenges, this holiday beckons us to rediscover the simple joys that bind us together and to foster a spirit of unity and goodwill.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with love, laughter, and moments of gratitude. From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving, Oklahoma!
