Defending champs get top seeds

Defending LeFlore County Tournament basketball champions, the Howe girls and Pocola boys, were given the top seeds for this year’s tournament, which is set to start Jan.15 with Arkoma as the host.

Arkoma, Cameron and Panama will host opening-round games before the tournament switches to Spiro for the championship games.

Since Bokoshe does not have a girls team, the top four seeds for the girls will receive a bye for the first round while the top three seeds also gets a bye for the opener.

For the girls, Pocola is the second seed, Panama is third, Spiro is fourth, Whitesboro is fifth, Poteau sixth, Heavener seventh, Talihina is eighth, LeFlore ninth, Wister is 10th, Cameron 11th and Arkoma 12.

Heavener is the second seed for the boys, followed by third-seeded Spiro; fourth-seeded Wister; fifth-seed Panama; sixth-seed Poteau; seventh-seed Howe; eighth-seed Talihina; ninth seed is Cameron; Arkoma is 10th; Whitesboro 11th; LeFlore 12; and Bokoshe 13th.
