Heat advisory extended through Thursday

Heat advisory extended through Thursday. It’s hot and going to get hotter before we receive a break in the summer temperatures.

The National Weather Service has issued another heat advisory for LeFlore County and most of the area through 9 p.m. Thursday as the combination of high temperatures and humidity make this a dangerous situation where heat illnesses are possible.

Temperatures are expected to reach 105 degrees Wednesday with heat index between 105 and 110.

If you have to work or spend time outside, do it early morning or evening. You need to know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose clothing and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk while outside working, take frequent rest breaks in the shade or air-conditioned environments.

If somebody appears to suffer from heat stroke, 911 should be called.
