Obituary for Couline Wickware
HODGEN–Couline Joysline Wickware, 91, of Hodgen was born Feb. 19, 1933 in the Big Creek community in Heavener to Harry and Anna Mae (Pinnell) Warford and passed away from this life March 9, 2024 in Poteau.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hodgen First Baptist Church with Brother John Paul McAlester officiating. Burial will follow in the Hodgen Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Couline was a longtime resident of the area and was a homemaker. She accepted Jesus as her Savior as a child and joined Big Creek Baptist Church. Couline moved to Hodgen in 1948 and married C.L. “Hossie” Wickware on May 29, 1948 in Waldron, Arkansas. They were married for 62 ½ years. In 1955, she joined First Baptist Church in Hodgen, where she taught VBS and was a Sunday school teacher. Couline loved to read and study her Bible. She was a prayer warrior, where she even prayed for people over the phone. Couline thoroughly enjoyed sewing, working in the garden, growing flowers, and taking care of animals. Couline was co-owner of the Hodgen Bait Shop for 26 years and also an Avon Representative for over 40 years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving family members are a daughter, Beverly Cox, of Hodgen; a grandson, Mark Couch, of Hodgen; numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Mae Warford; her husband of 62 ½ years, C.L. “Hossy” Wickware; a son, Randy Wickware; a brother, Troy Warford; and a sister, Lola Davis.

She will lie in state from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
