Airport managers Rossi and Annette Christenberry said the FAA had given the go-ahead to proceed with crack and seal repairs and remarking the runway pavement in preparation for the planned extension of the runway to 5,000 feet.

Mayor Scotty White said the repairs had been put off for several seasons in hopes that they could be accomplished at the same time as the extension, but could be put off no longer.

No cost was given for the entire project. White said the city’s share would be 10 percent, with the remainder paid by the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission.

Devin Oldaker and Anthony Whitecotton were hired as volunteer firefighters.

Brant Toney was recognized for five years’ service in Billing and Collections.

Chamber of Commerce CEO Karen Wages said the Cooking for Kids chili cookoff would be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Reynolds Center.

Wages said the Reynolds Center also would host a Big Daddy Weave concert Feb. 18 and a MMX fight card in April.

She said the Leadership LeFlore County class is still accepting applications, and is expected to have about 20 participants.

The annual Trash-Off cleanup event will be held April 15
