Funeral service for Johnnie Ward, 94 of Wister is 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Nazarene in Wister with Reverend Jerry Townley officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

He passed away Jan. 1, 2023 and was born March 10, 1928 in Newton, Texas to Lucille Ward-Runnels and John Henry Ward

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ward; son, Richard J. Ward; two brothers; five sisters.
Survivors
Survivors include son Johnnie D. Ward and wife Annette; three daughters Shela Andrews and husband John, Rebecca J. Evans and husband Michael, and Nancy Hutton and husband Sheldon; 10 grandchildren Kerri Skelton, Kristi Ward, John Feidl, Denise Rowe, Dawn Miller, Tim Evans, Tiffany English, Ricky Carpenter, Mary Farmer, and Rachal Reddin; 23 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
