Heavener band scores well at Waldron

The Pride of Heavener Marching Band traveled to Waldron, Arkansas Saturday to compete in the Bulldog Marching Invitational. This was the second contest of their competition season.

The Pride performed their field show entitled, “Endless Summer: The Music of the Beach Boys”. Musical selections included “I Get Around”, “In My Room”, and “Fun,Fun,Fun”.

After an outstanding competition performance against 9 bands in Class 3A,

The Pride of Heavener received the following:

2nd Place – Class 3A; Superior Rating – Drum Major; Superior Rating – Color Guard; Excellent Rating – Marching Band; Excellent Rating – Percussion and Heavener’s band finished sixth out of 16 bands ranging from Class 2A through 4A.

On Wednesday, the Pride will travel to McAlester to compete in the OSSAA Southeast Regional Marching Contest.

The previous week, the Pride of Heavener marching band competed in the Sounds of the Southeast marching invitational at Stigler Oct. 7 for the band’s first contest of the competition season Oct. 7.

The ban performed its field show: Endless Summer: the music of the Beach Boys. Musical selections included “I Get Around”, “In My Room” and “Fun Fun, Fun”. The HHS color guard also competed in ensemble competition, also the selection “I Get Around”.

The Pride of Heavener received second place in Class 3A black (marching band field performance) and the color guard ensemble performance was awarded a superior rating.

Heavener’s band was sixth among all the bands competing.
