Obituary for Bruce Wernow

Bruce Jay Wernow 73, of Spiro passed peacefully Sept. 6, 2023 with his loving wife, Jane, by his side.

Bruce was loved by many and will be remembered for his endless generosity, storytelling, dry wit and infectious smile. He was born to Sylvia Sager and Hubert Herbert in New York Oct. 28, 1949.

Bruce never hesitated to reflect on his humble upbringing in Brooklyn, his “West Side Story”. Bruce served in the Navy and after college for dental technology Bruce entered the bustling NY castings industry where he remained until relocating to Florida in 2000. Bruce professed he was never meant to be a doctor or lawyer, he was a craftsman, an artist, a sailor, a dreamer, a builder, a thinker, a true friend and companion.

Bruce is survived by his wife Jane (Futchkar) Wernow, whom they shared their love of adventure and travel; those wonderful memories will carry both into eternity; and his son Seth Wernow and daughter Shana Wernow.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all his benefits:
Who forgive all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies.
Psalm 103:2-4

Cremation is under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro.
