HOWE—Poteau defeated Pocola, 2-1, Thursday to win the fast pitch softball LeFlore County Tournament for the first time since 2016 and end Pocola’s streak of LCT championships.
Poteau is 22-5. Pocola is 23-4. The win earns the Lady Pirates a split of the season series after Pocola won an earlier meeting, 5-1, Aug. 29.
Due to a revamped tournament format, the pool winners reached the finals. So it was not a true double-elimination tournament as it has been in the past and in the one-game format for the championship, the Lady Pirates were victors.
