Jobless rate goes up for most Oklahoma counties

McIntosh County had the highest unemployment rate in Oklahoma in October at 5.8 percent while Haskell was second at 5.4 percent, followed by Seminole County.

There were 65 counties with higher rates than the previous year, nine with lower rates and three counties had not changed.

LeFlore County dropped from 4.3 percent in September to 4.2 percent for October. For the month, the county had a work force of 20,449 with 19,594 employed and 855 out of work.

In August, LeFlore County’s rate was 4.1 percent while it was 3.7 percent a year ago. The county has the 67th highest unemployment percent of the 77 counties in Oklahoma.
