Service planned for Merrell Pettigrew
SPIRO – Funeral service for Merrell Pettigrew, 98 of Spiro is 11 a.m. Friday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with Pastor Dakota Bunch officiating. Burial will be held at 1pm at the United States National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
He was born March 8, 1924 in Paris, Arkansas to Novie (Nichols) and General Sherman Pettigrew and passed away June 7, 2022 in Gore. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his two daughters Mattie May Bunch and Sharon Janeice Beard; three sons Donnie Pettigrew and wife Melissa, Larry Pettigrew and wife Helen, Kenny Pettigrew and wife Barbara; sister, Cora Grantham; brothers Wayne Pettigrew and Tom Pettigrew; numerous grand children, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Mable Marie Pettigrew; sisters Neoma, Dorothy, Minnie and Bonnie; brother, Gene, and great grandson, Chase.
Viewing is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
