Commissioners accept bid on truck

Commissioners accept bid on truck

By KEN MILAM

LeFlore County commissioners on Monday accepted one bid to sell a surplus truck from District 2, but rejected bids on a second truck.

A $22,900 bid on a 2007 Mack truck from Crandall Construction was accepted.

District 2 Commissioners Cody Covey rejected bids on a 2008 Mack truck as too low. Bidders included Quality Salvage Lindell Stewart and D and G Diesel and Fleet Services. Crandall did not bid on the ’08 truck.

The board approved the appointments of Mike Robinson and Luke Fitzgerald to the Public Health Management Authority (Solid Waste Board).

The county assessor’s veterans’ exemption letter and additional homestead exemption were approved.

Also approved were disposal of two garbage disposals, a television and a vacuum from the Detention Center.

Although not on the agenda, Northside Liquor Store owner Pat Gillham attended the meeting. She previously asked commissioners to call a special election to let the people vote on allowing liquor stores to sell seven days a week. Commissioners rejected the plan, and suggested she pursue an initiative petition.

After the meeting, Gillham said she has been working on the wording of the petition with the District Attorney’s Office, and expects to begin collecting signatures soon.
