County team go 4-2 Friday night

LeFlore County football teams went 4-2 during the first week of the district games Friday night.

Arkoma lost 52-6 to Arkoma Thursday in a non-district game.

In next week’s games, Eufaula is at Heavener; Madill travels to Poteau; Panama goes to Talihina Arkoma visits Quinton; Pocola is at Central Sallisaw in a key district game; and Spiro makes the long trip to Antlers.

Heavener got off to a 3-1 start for the first time since 2012 and beat Valliant, 37-14, for the first time since 2015 as P.J. Riddley scored four touchdowns for the Wolves, who have already won more games than last season.

Valliant lost its second straight game and is 2-2.

Poteau stayed perfect at 4-0 with a 48-13 win at Fort Gibson as the Pirates started their pursuit of another district champion. Fort Gibson is 1-3.

Spiro hung tough on the road against one of the 2A-6 favorites before coming up short, 30-20 to Eufaula. Both teams are now 2-2.

Panama evened its record at 2-2 with a blowout win over Porter, 55-8.

In its first district game in two years, Talihina fell to undefeated and defending state runner-up Gore, 51-12, on the road.

Pocola won its third straight game since losing its opener against Heavener with an easy 64-0 win over Canadian.
