Eagles fly past Pirates

RED OAK – Red Oak rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Poteau, 4-1, and hand the Pirates their first loss of the season Monday.

The Pirates are back in action Tuesday against Lavaca, Arkansas.

Poteau jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first against the Eagles, but could never score again. Red Oak scored the tying run in the second inning and then scored the three runs in the fifth to seal the win.

Wesley Garrett went the first four innings, allowing one hit and one run with three walks and seven strikeouts before Pierce Ballard pitched the final two innings, giving up three hits and three runs, all earned, with one strikeout.

Dax Collins homered for the Pirates and was 2-3 with a RBI and a run.
