Howe girls punch state ticket

ROLAND—Howe’s girls avenged a loss to Wyandotte in the regional finals last week with a 47-35 win over Wyandotte Saturday night in the Ranger Dome to join Pocola in the Class 2A state tournament this week in the Oklahoma City area.

The win gave the Lady Lions the area consolation championship and completed a three-day run through the area tournament to eliminate Wyandotte, which defeated Howe, 42-36, last week in the regional tournament.

Howe’s boys were not as fortunate. Warner ended the Lions’ season in the second game, defeating Howe, 36-28, as the Eagles also advance to the state tournament.

Brackets for the tournaments will be released later.
