Ironheads win two at Heavener

Eufaula swept a doubleheader from Heavener in district baseball action Monday.

The Ironheads won the first game, 12-1, before completing the sweep with a 7-0 win in the second contest.

Heavener plays in the Union City Classic later in the week.

In the opener, Eufaula grabbed the lead early and put the game away by run rule by scoring three runs in the fourth and five more in the sixth.

Heavener managed only three hits.

Dalton Semore pitched the first 3.1 innings, allowing five hits and six runs, five earned, with two strikeouts and a walk. Angel Alvarez replaced him and pitched 1.2 innings, giving up five hits and six runs, four earned, with two strikeouts and a walk.

Jaxon Armstrong doubled and was 1-3 with a RBI for the Wolves and Jackson Clubb also doubled while going 1-2.

In the second game, the Wolves, behind some good pitching by Bryce Morrison, trailed only 1-0 before Eufaula scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Morrison pitched 4.1 innings, allowing six hits and two runs, both earned, with four strikeouts and two walks. Canyon Ford pitched a third of an inning, allowing four runs, all earned, with a strikeout and two walks before Clubb threw 1.1 innings to finish up the contest. He gave up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and a walk.

Alvarez led the Wolves at the plate, going 2-3.
