Obituary for Haylee Newman
Haylee Renee Newman, 21, of LeFlore was born Feb. 13, 2002 in Talihina to Shane and Brandy Melaina Newman and passed away April 29, 2023 in the Reichert community in Heavener.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at LeFlore High School Gymnasium with Reverend Johnny Montgomery and Heather Spiegel, MS, RN nursing instructor officiating. Burial will follow in LeFlore Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Haylee was a 2020 graduate of LeFlore High School and a member of LeFlore Baptist Church. She graduated with her Associates of Applied Sciences in Nursing from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. Haylee was employed at Baptist Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She loved spending time with her brothers, fishing, vacationing, sports, foodie, and being with her friends and family. Haylee was a beautiful person inside and out. Her stunning smile and bright personality would light up the whole room. She cared so deeply for her family and friends. Haylee will be forever missed.
Surviving family members are her parents Shane and Brandy Newman of LeFlore; two brothers Cooper and Cason Newman of LeFlore; her maternal grandparents Pam Zuniga and husband Tony of LeFlore, and Cindy Luman of Wister; her maternal great-grandmother, Shelba Ward, of LeFlore; her paternal grandparents Edith and Eric Newman of Salonia; her maternal uncles and cousins Brian and Brandy Luman of LeFlore, Megan and Jasper Pruitt; Emma and Hunter Durant; and Rylan Lumen, Cody and Sadie Luman of Calera, Cade, Cord, Cale, and Cleo Lumen; her maternal aunt, Courtney “Quart-Knee” Luman of Grove, Missouri; her maternal great-uncles and cousins Sam and Stacy Ward and family of LeFlore, Donnie, Mary, and Lucky Ward of LeFlore, Jason, Amy, Lindsey “Petey” and Alpy Waits of LeFlore; her maternal great-great-aunts Sonia “Nanny” Duncan of LeFlore, Melba “Nanny” and Alan Wylie of Summerfield, her paternal aunt, uncle, and cousins Judy and Emmit Hampton of Poteau, Christopher and Robin, Eric Newman of Salonia, and Jacob Newman; numerous cousins, other loved ones, and host of many friends.
Haylee is preceded in death by her great-great-uncle, Wilmer Duncan; her maternal great-grandfathers, Robert Ward, Jr. and Haskell “PaPa” Luman; her paternal great-grandparents, Robert and Mary Newman; her great-grandfather, Pete Edwards.
Pallbearers are Megan Pruitt, Emma Durant, Lindsey Waits, Alyssa Waits, Kaylen Hudlow, Kenzie Pope, Shadie Crase, Abree Singleterry, Lakota Ingle, Katrina Hudlow and Lindsey Hudlow. Honorary pallbearers are all former teammates.
Viewing is 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
