One woman dies in wreck

One 87-year-old female died in a single-car accident Friday afternoon on Highway 3, approximately one mile north of Haworth in McCurtain County.

Eunice Henderson, 71, of Texarkana, Texas, was driving a 2016 Nissan when the auto went off the right side of the road, struck a power pole and rolled one half time onto vehicle top.

Henderson and one passenger, Dorothy Moore, 65, also of Texarkana were both treated for head and trunk-internal injuries and released.

Another passenger, Bert Lue Smith, 87, from Tom, was pronounced dead at the scene due to trunk-internal injuries and was transported to Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow.

The accident remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The driver and Moore were wearing seatbelts, Smith was not. Airbags were equipped and deployed.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Garrett Schulze, assisted by Trooper Ledgen Agneli, Trooper Seth Leyba, the Haworth Fire Department, McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office and McCurtain County EMS.
