Heavener girls go 1-1 in Festival

POCOLA – Heavener’s girls split their two games in the slow pitch softball Black Diamond Festival here Tuesday.

The Lady Wolves opened with a 16-4 win over Talihina before coming up short in the second game against Pocola, 18-10.

Heavener is back in action later this week at the Webbers Falls Festival.

In the win over Talihina, Heavener scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to the easy win.

Kinley Brand tripled and was 2-2 with three RBI and two runs, Mariana Garcia tripled and went 2-2 with three RBI and three runs, Gracie Morrison finished 2-3 with two runs, Anleigh Hackney had a 2-2 outing with a run and McKinley Alexander tripled in a 1-3 game with three RBI.

In the second game, Pocola broke a 10-10 tie by scoring eight runs in the last inning to get the win, despite being outhit by the Lady Wolves.

Heavener had scored four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 10-9 lead before Pocola tied the score in the bottom half of the inning and scored the eight runs in the final at-bat for the win.

Alexander homered and doubled twice while going 3-3 with three runs and two RBI, Morrison finished 3-3 with two RBI and a run, Paisley Stacy went 3-3 with a RBI, Brand doubled and finished 2-4 with two runs, Ava Cartwright went 2-3 with a run and a RBI and Brooklyn May doubled and went 1-3 with a RBI.
