The Heavener VFW patriot pen and teacher of the year winners was presented at a holiday meal.
Avery Snipes of Poteau was awarded first place and Gehrig Snipes, also of Poteau, was awarded second place in the Patriot Pen scholarship.
Joni Roop, an elementary teach at Heavener School, was selected as the Heavener VFW teacher of the year. Presenting the awards is Heavener VFW Commander Don Bosley and VFW Auxiliary President Sarah Tucker.
