Howe’s girls capture LCT

After a brief absence last year, Howe’s girls ascended to the championship of the 2023 LeFlore County Tournament by ending LeFlore’s Cinderalla story Saturday evening with a 67-37 win before a large crowd at Spiro.

After Pocola halted Howe’s championship streak last year, the Lady Lions were back on top for this year with the win over the Lady Savages, who had upset top-seeded Pocola Thursday evening after defeating Arkoma and Spiro to start the tournament.

As is usual the case with Howe, the Lady Lions used their deep depth to throw swarms after swarms of players at LeFlore, which basically played five players. After a close first quarter, Howe took over, outscoring the Lady Savages 32-13 over the middle two quarters to build a 51-26 lead heading into the final period.

Howe was led by tournament MVP Gracie Lute with 15 points and Abby Huie added 11 as nine players scored for the Lady Lions.

Piper Warren’s 10 points led LeFlore.
